Water damage restoration is the process of removing water from a building, drying the structure to a measured standard, and repairing what the water damaged. In Blaine County, Idaho the clock matters more than anywhere else: mold can begin growing within 24 to 48 hours, and in a heated home it moves faster. Wood River Maintenance responds across Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue within about 90 minutes, 24 hours a day.

What causes water damage in a Wood River Valley home
Frozen and burst supply lines
Winter here runs long and the valley sits near 6,000 feet. A supply line in an exterior wall or an unheated crawl space can freeze in a single night, and the line does not usually fail while it is frozen — it fails when it thaws. In an empty house that water can run for days.
Ice dams
Snow melts off a warm roof, refreezes at the cold eave, and the water backs up under the shingles. It does not show up on the ceiling below the ice. It travels down inside the wall and surfaces as a stain two rooms away, often weeks later.
Spring runoff and snowmelt
When the snowpack goes and the ground is still frozen, water moves sideways rather than down. It finds foundation cracks, window wells and crawl space vents. Low-lying properties along the Big Wood River see it first.
Appliance and plumbing failures
Water heaters, washing machine hoses, dishwashers, refrigerator lines and failed shut-off valves. These are the year-round losses, and in a second home they are the ones nobody finds for weeks.
What we do, step by step
01
Stop the source and make it safe.
We shut off water at the source and check for electrical hazards before anything else. If the loss is still active, this happens the minute we walk in.
02
Assess and document.
We photograph everything before we move it and take moisture readings room by room. This is the record your insurer will ask for, and it is the single most common thing missing when a claim gets reduced.
03
Extract standing water.
Truck-mounted and portable extraction, including water trapped in carpet pad, under cabinets and beneath flooring.
04
Set containment and drying.
Air movers and dehumidifiers placed to move air through the wet assemblies, not just across the floor. Containment keeps the drying zone separate from the rest of the house.
05
Monitor until the numbers are right.
We return and re-read moisture levels through the dry-down. A surface that feels dry can still hold water in the cavity behind it.
06
Verify, then rebuild.
You get final meter readings in writing. Then drywall, flooring, trim and paint, matched to what was there before.
Why response time is the whole job
Every hour water sits, it moves further into materials that are harder to dry. Drywall wicks it upward, subfloor holds it underneath, and insulation stops doing its job and starts holding moisture against the framing. A loss caught in the first hours is usually a drying job. The same loss caught in week two is a demolition and rebuild job, and often a mold job as well.
That gap is why we are based in the valley rather than driving up from the Magic Valley. From Hailey we reach Sun Valley, Ketchum and Bellevue in minutes, not hours.

I couldn't be happier with the work Wood River Maintenance did on my office. As a first-time homeowner tackling my first real project, I wasn't sure what to expect — but Hayden and his team made the entire experience seamless from start to finish.
From the beginning, Hayden was thorough, communicative, and walked me through every step of the process. When an unexpected PVC pipe was uncovered from the previous owner mid-project, he problem-solved on the spot and kept me informed and confident the entire way through. That kind of transparency and professionalism is hard to find.
The finished work speaks for itself — the wall and baseboard were patched and blended so perfectly with the original texture that you would never know anything had been touched. The attention to detail was impressive.
Wood River Maintenance will absolutely be my first call for every project and facelift going forward, and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Thank you Hayden and team — you exceeded every expectation!

Although there were some bumps in the road ( delay of shipment of materials, which was beyond his control) Hayden was a very good communicator throughout my repairs as was he true to his word. He also made sure that everything was quality work and was to my satisfaction. In addition, he was personable yet professional.

Our typical response anywhere in the Wood River Valley is 90 minutes, day or night, 365 days a year. Call (208) 539-0821 and you will reach us, not an answering service in another state.
Mold can begin growing within 24 to 48 hours of water getting into a structure, and faster in a heated home. That window is why response time matters more than any other factor in a water loss.
Yes. Most of the homes we dry out belong to someone who is somewhere else when it happens. We can be dispatched by a caretaker, property manager, neighbor or alarm company, and we send photographs and moisture readings as we work so you can see the situation without flying in.
Sudden and accidental losses, such as a burst pipe or a failed appliance, are typically covered. Gradual leaks and long-term seepage often are not. We document every job the way carriers require, which is usually what decides whether a claim is paid in full.
Drying a typical residential loss takes three to five days, depending on how much water there was, how long it sat and what materials are involved. Repairs afterward depend on scope. We give you a timeline in writing before work starts.
We take final meter readings in every affected cavity and give them to you in writing. A house that looks dry and a house that is dry are not the same thing, and the difference usually shows up months later as a smell or a stain.
Usually not. Containment keeps the drying zone separate from the rest of the house. If the loss is large or involves contaminated water, we will tell you honestly.
It depends on how much water, how long it sat, and how much structure is affected, so we assess on site and give you a written scope and price before any work begins. Most insured losses are covered; we document everything your carrier needs.
Yes. Financing is available on request. Restoration work is almost always unplanned, so if the timing of the cost is the obstacle rather than the work itself, say so at the assessment and we will go through the options and current terms with you before you commit to anything.
